On the Ascend Math blog you’ll find themed math problems to share with your class from The Winter Olympics to the Academy Awards and Mardi Gras.

Now, we challenge your classes to create math problems for March Madness.  Math plays into this annual event in more ways than you might think.  Not just scores, but records of teams, distance teams have to travel, the basketball court itself, even the numbers on the player’s jerseys present opportunities to explore math.

All entries will be featured on the Ascend Math blog with the name of your school and class.  We will even include a picture or logo from your school with the posting.

Your Students Could Win

Two Classrooms will receive $50 March Madness party gift cards (VISA gift cards are the same as cash anywhere VISA is accepted).  Use the gift card to purchase pizzas, cupcakes, juice or whatever you like for your class party. Every class submitting a problem will be eligible.  Drawings will be held on March 31, 2014. Winners will receive their gift cards in time for the National Championship.

Send your math problems to marchmath@ascendmath.com
